Teresina: This Small Town Is Sure To Make You Go Up In Awe

One of the hottest cities in Brazil is the capital of Piaui, Teresina. I had been there during the months of November, luckily got to enjoy many seasonal events.  I went with my friend Fran who works with a great team.  She doesn’t get to travel as much as she likes and when we got the chance, we took it.  Piaui is an amazing place to visit.  The river-level decreases between July and November, which turns into river banks. And I was also able to see various artists creating cartoons and caricatures for the event called Salão Internacional de Humor that is been held during the month of November.

  • The first place I had been there was Lookout tower at the Sesquicentennial Bridge. At the height of 312-foot, you can view the whole city. Believe me; the city looks beautiful over there. Then I went to an amazing museum, Museu Histórico do Piauí. This is a state museum which has separate rooms for historic, religious, flora and fauna, antique radios and projectors, popular art, minerals etc.
  • At evening I went to Benedict the Moore Church to experience the spirituality of the city. Central de Artesanato, located in the city center is the best place for shopping whereas Forno e Fogão served delicious food.
  • In Teresina, I discovered a sweet soft drink called Cajuína which is basically made from the cashew fruit. For botanical sights and zoos visit Parque Zoobotânico do Piauí, Rodovia. It looks beautiful due to local flora. Sports freaks would love Parque Potycabana, an exercise park where you can play volleyball, basketball, football anything. Enjoy food at floating restaurant in O Encontro das Aguas, a river area where river Poti flows into the river Parnaíba.
